This week our highlights all come from our early stage investments.  Starting with Y Combinator, who held its 25th Demo Day.  As usual, Charles Lorenceau – managing director of our London office – had the privilege to see the latest batch of start-ups, keep posted to hear if we end up investing in any of them.  Moving on to Uber, who this week announced who their new CEO will be - Dara Khosrowshahi.  Finally, Soundboks, the company who claims to produce “the loudest battery-powered speaker in the world,” has released The Soundboks 2.

3. Uber CEO Pick Embraces Job as ‘Opportunity of a Lifetime’

Khosrowshahi, 48, was chosen by Uber’s board Sunday to replace Travis Kalanick, who resigned as CEO on June 20. At the end of a contentious CEO search, Khosrowshahi emerged as the dark horse, beating out better-known candidates, such as Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co.’s Meg Whitman and General Electric Co.’s Jeffrey Immelt.
